WRX Performance, Less on Insurance?

Hey all, just joined, looking for a bit of advice on buying an Impreza please.

Been after an Impreza for years, its been my dream car since I was a young un. But ive never been able to afford the insurance. Even now for classic model 2l WRX (the one I want) its going to cost me £2000 on insurance alone.

However I did get talking to an Impreza owner a couple of days ago & he told me theres a different model that - if you turned the turbo boost up - is almost on par with the WRX but costs significantly less on insurance.

Ive done some searching on the net but i cant seem to find anything on this? Is it bull or can someone tell me which model it is so i could - possibly - finally take the plunge & buy my dream car?

& then annoy you all for advice when the clutch goes, fitting upgrades etc

Re: WRX Performance, Less on Insurance?

UK turbo is the lower insurance bracket and can be more highly "tweeked" on the ECU than its import cousin, mine runs 300+ on minimal mods and still under £500(mods declaired)to insure

Re: WRX Performance, Less on Insurance?

UK turbo 2000 is the one your after(plenty of variants out there,McRae,Catalynia etc),power for a standard one ranges from 208 to 218 bhp,if you can find one that has been "mapped"already,it will save on costings when you start to mod it
