Make some ' Noise '

After buying my impreza last november, the 1st thing i changed was the original pea shooter exhaust for a prodrive back box. This was subtle and not to loud and still sounded ok .As the months have gone buy ,like sti impreza i thought about getting a better system, and having listened to a few on you tube, decided on a ninja 2.
Then as luck would have it i got a afterburner vortex of ebay for 60.00 . i knew it was gonna be loud so bought the removeable baffle from scoobyworld ,had it fitted yesterday, and started it up,Jesus - loud ,i thought it had started thundering, and the noise was awesome. I drove it up the road ,and did it go,would never have believed an exhaust could make so much difference to the way a car drives. Even with the baffle in it was miles louder than the prodrive system, but was a good compromise for motorway driving.

I am not surprised scoobyworld sell so many of these, but i'am well happy, the only thing i need to do now is to learn ' sign ' language ,because i think i might be deaf by the end of the week. . lol

Re: Make some ' Noise '

I don't like my stock exhaust as well so I'm building a pipe myself (remove the last silencer and put an inox straight tube instead). Do you guys think that this is going to work?
thanks

Re: Make some ' Noise '

It will work, but with no baffles in at all it will be stupidly loud, and if you use just a straight pipe,it might actually be more restrictive than a rear silencer. With places like ebay selling quality backboxes for silly money ,is it really worth it.

Re: Make some ' Noise '

I expect it to sound sweet... but maybe Slider is right. I've been searching on ebay and I found a Magnaflow exhaust that fits to 08 wrx. the problem is that i'm from spain, and the shipping costs 250 dollars :S In barcelona there are some good rally dealers and shops, but they don't have anything for 2008 wrx yet.
So will see what I do
thanks again!

Re: Make some ' Noise '

So, let's see: you have the non turbo impreza like me, and you have the 2.5 wrx magnaflow exhaust? that will help me to decide what to buy, thanks

Re: Make some ' Noise '

I believe doobydoo has a wrx with a afterburner vortex on,i have had my afterburner on the car for nearly 3 weeks now and still cant believe the sound it makes, especially on start up it could wake the dead, even when i put it in neutral and free wheel down the road, people still look round.Best of all when you do want to be discreet you just insert the baffle and the noise difference is like having a slightly louder prodrive system on,but no drone at all ,best of both worlds imho.

Re: Make some ' Noise '

I think maybe the newage scoobies may have to many cats restricting the sound im thinking of taking my mid cat out and putting a straight through or decat pipe in and maybe a 100 cell front cat pipe will my car still pass its mot?
Ive heard escorts with universal back boxes sound louder than mine to say im dissapointed is an understatment.i want noise

Re: Make some ' Noise '

In my country we use back boxes of old cars, for example, my friend built a straight line with a back box of a 1976 Lada and it sounds awesome, better noise than if he had bought a new cat line.
