Shock Absorber help

Hi, there's probably somewhere more appropriate for me to post this but I'm new to the site and just finding my way around so please let me know if there is.
I've got a 2006 2.5l Impreza WRX with rear driver side knocking, which I'm almost positive is the shock absorber. A Subaru specialist told me I had to replace with Subaru part and total cost including 40 labour and VAT was around 380! Gutted, missed warranty by just a few weeks.
Do I really need a Subaru part? Any other suggestions??

Re: Shock Absorber help

welcome n enjoy
here we go again with the dodgy shockers, its a design fault with ceertain shocks n subaru should replace free of charge as it is a well known fault!!!

there are a few threads on here about the issues with the shockers, check em out,but my advice is to keep on at the main dealer, failing that, contact head office

Heard this problem numerous times too you think Subaru would have fixed the shock assembly and made them stronger so they be that bit harder to wear

the problem is with the seals. They did amend the design and warranties were replaced with the modified struts, but these fail aswell. Best bet is to save up and replace with aftermarket if the dealer / IM wont asist.

The stereo idea will sove the issue for a time, but they will get worse.
