turbo???

Hi, i have got a V4 sti which im replacing the engne due to previous one burning on me! i've had some help from someone experienced with the imprezas and he has told me i have the wrong turbo fitted, its a td04 from a uk spec car i've been told. What is the correct turbo for my car? Do i just modify parts of my existing unit or replace it, or even what would be the quickest spooling unit while maintaning a 300 - 330 bhp boost? any help would be greatly appriciated, thanks. J
P.S. The original unit would be my prefered option as im notin a possition to upgrade my ecu, but light mapping is an option. thanks again. J

Re: turbo???

well its not the "wrong" turbo the standard was the VF23....so the turbo you have on there is an upgrade...as such.

The prefered option is the VF34 though...standard on the Sti RA Spec C

any turbo will need mapping to the car though, so whatever you do, its got to be mapped!

if you want the quickest spooling go for the VF35

Re: turbo???

Thank you, so am gona have to bite the bullet and get it mapped as i cant help but want to upgrade the turbo lol. I dont have a boost controler fitted and wanted a "Gizzmo" elec boost controler, would this be an advised step if i uprate the turbo?.... are mech boost controlers any good? this is my 1st forced induction car so i'm a bit unsure of the best practices! lol.
Thanks again. J

Re: turbo???

well the opinion is divded....I don't feel they are worth it...bit of a waste of time if the car has been mapped well, but if you have the money and feel the need then its your choice. If you do then an electronic one would be better I guess.

Re: turbo???

the reflashed map should control the boost on its own, but,if you do want a boost controler its an easy fit
got 4 settings on mine, one for the mrs and the other 3 for me..lol
