1995 wrx bhp??

hi guys, im back in a scoob, looked at a couple then found a really tidy 1995 wrx import at a price i couldnt refuse, dont no much about it other than its been looked after, the owner sais its 280bhp is there any way for me to confirm this??? all i know it does seem to have more power than my previous 2004 wrx, last thing on the log it sais wrx but my insurance company are adamant its a wrx sti import??? not a big drama just curious...many thanks in advance

Re: 1995 wrx bhp??

best bet is to shove it on a rolling road bud, normally a 95 wrx is iro 240 bhp, classics will seem quicker than the newer ones due to weight of the veihicle

Re: 1995 wrx bhp??

yeah thanks mate i know what youre saying im not really that concerned about the power as long as it goes well, just that the owner was adamant it was 280bhp but i dont know how he was so sure, had to sell my pervious scoob just after the mcrae gathering last year due to financial bad times, so ive been driving round in a p...s boring saab, had to get rid i was depressed with it, then saw how cheap scoobs are atm and thought fk it i need a scoob...lol

Re: 1995 wrx bhp??

Hi mate,

'95 WRX has 250 Bhp standard. They had 280 Bhp from late 1996 onwards.

To tell what it is you'll need to check the Applied Model Code. It is on the same plate that you got the VIN off but is a combination of letters/numbers.

If it is a WRX it will be: GC8C48D
STi will be: GC8C4ED

Re: 1995 wrx bhp??

yeah would have been fine if my insurance company brought it up as a 1.8gl i coulda gone on the p..s this weekend with the savings...doubt il be doin any mods its got few already and il just use and enjoy as is...im thinking for how much shes worth just have some fun before i hit 38 and at 1700 that exactly a 3rd of what i lost in a years ownership of my prev 04 wrx so on those maths if i buy a scoob at this price and only lasts a year il be well up...lol...she runs great and really tidy only moan shes still restricted to 112mph...bugger...then again perhaps a blessing...lol
