Trading in Classic for a Bug?

Right, just been offered an 03 Sti Prodrive for £6,495 with £2,000 in px for mine.

Is it worth it, or should I sell mine privately for more? ahhhh what to do?!

Re: Trading in Classic for a Bug?

s that a good price? Here in Japan bug eye STi's (any year) now often fetch less than late classic STi's so some great deals to be had. Dunno what the situation is in the UK though. Also depends what you've got now. If you have a UK turbo which by your avatar i guess you do then I say yes! That is assuming the bug eye is in good condition with service history etc.

A lot of people will say that the classic is a better car, but any STi is gonna be better than a UK turbo whichever way you look at it. The classic is a far better looking car and i would never swap a late classic STi for any bug eye (except the S202). You could however sell yours, add the 2000 pounds to that and probably get yourself a nice late JDM Classic STi which is what i would personally do. Depends what you want at the end of the day but the classic STi is by far the better car imo.

Re: Trading in Classic for a Bug?

yes, mine is a UK Turbo. I paid £3500 in July last year.

Its a really good condition bug, black with the blacked out prodrive lights etc, well looked after.

I do love my classic, but there is something about this bug that gets me going.

Have a look on ebay and see how much they have been selling for in the completed listings section that should be a good indicator.

Re: Trading in Classic for a Bug?

I wouldnt personally swap for a bug but can see why someone would want to with it being an sti,if it would have been a WRX would have said drive them both an the classic will feel more fun and quicker.

Re: Trading in Classic for a Bug?

get the bugeye, the uk sti have forged pistons and will crack 400bhp on standard internals.

Re: Trading in Classic for a Bug?

Totally agreed with jd.

I have the STi8 lump in my WRX and it's pretty strong. They will definately handle 400 all day long and i know of a chap that runs a rolling road that's had one on his rollers at just over 500 on standard internals and apparently it's been run like that for a few years now.

Next time a V.7 or V.8 STi comes up for sale you know what to do........Jump On It!!

Re: Trading in Classic for a Bug?

Each to there own really, I bought a later classic because of the looks .when 1 pulls up behind you and you look in your rear view, with the bonnet vents and the power bulge, it makes the car look really aggresive.maybe this was why they tamed the look when they bought out the bug eye.

Re: Trading in Classic for a Bug?

Bug eyes ar F-UUUUUUUUGLY imo. Much rather a type r etc classic. Although if you're after something newer, 6.5k buys you a blob eye and they're a much better looking car imo
