Yep the Ekotek - don't know loads about these performance mods but if it were me I wouldn't touch one of these with a 10ft barge pole on a Scooby :shock:
I know the write up on them seems very good but basically what the Ekotek does is to alter the fueling of your car. Its supposed to make the car run slightly leaner which can give more power and better economy. Now this is fine if you are running with all the necessary equipment to monitor the car AFR, KnockLink to name but a few. What can happen is the car can lean out too much and the ultimate disaster could be it leans your motor too much and the engine goes POP. Of course I am talking about a worse case scenario but for me the Impreza engine runs a fine line as it is with fuelling and the worry of detonation etc....why put yourself possibly to further risk. My advice would be if you are gonna have an Ekotek fitted then definitely get an AFR and KnockLink to keep an eye on things. Hope this helps ? |
