What have I got here?

Hello there. I'm Adam, just bought a Subaru Impreza WRX FIA edition. What is it exactly? Why is it any different to other Imprezas?

It's on an N plate, Imported, few plaques on the back, has the newer STi alloys, Blitz dump valve, very adjsutable suspension! You can even adjust the camber at the top mount! 55,000KM, air con (out of gas and belt removed, booo), plenty of MOT and tax and its blue

Here are a few pics for you lot

Happy man

Any information on why this is a limited edition would be great.

Thanks, Adam

Re: What have I got here?

Hi Adam. Welcome to .org

It looks like a WRX STi Version 2 V-Limited 1,000 units/LTD.model. The V-limited edition was often used to celebrate a manufacturer or driver title award to Subaruís World Rally Team.

Re: What have I got here?

Think it's a '96 WRX V-Ltd and not an STi judging by the seats and the fact there is no roof vent. However Pete could be right.

Difficult to tell from the pics though tbh. Also has a later version (version 6) rear wing and as you say the new age wheels. Do you have any pics of the front of the car? Also the Applied model code would tell us exactly what you have.

Re: What have I got here?

Adam give us some engine bay shots, ive just found this but colour dont tally.

The 1996MY WRX debuted on January 1996. The WRX design received minimal mechanical changes, but a WRX V-Limited Edition was introduced to celebrate the success of the Impreza WRC car in the FIA WRC. It was mechanically the same to the WRX but had a curb weight nudge to 1240 kg (2734 lb). The V-limited cars are painted in World Rally Blue.

Force of habit Dave.

Had an idea i was right, consulted my GC8 Bible which confirmed my thinking, but you doubt the word of Pete at your own peril so had to give myself a way out in case Pete proved correct again.

I however proved triumphant and much gloating and lording it over Pete is now in order.:ges_cla p::icon_la ug:ext_tom at:big_b and:

(Sorry Pete, but i just read the 'Goonies' post)

Re: What have I got here?

Thanks for the information gents I think I'll give Pete another chance

It is the same as the white ebay Impreza inside and under the bonnet. I think my front bumper isn't the standard one and clearly the rear spoiler is off a different type (Type R isn't it?)

Is the adjsutable suspension I have (knob on top with 4 numbers, slider built in to top mount allowing camber to be adjusted) standard fitment?

A mate of mine mentioned something about the brakes, 4 pot callipers on the front, possibly not standard?

Whats the general oppinion on swapping bits over from newer/later models?

I guess as time goes on people will start reverting my type of Impreza back to how they were when new

Adam

Re: What have I got here?

Reckon the suspensions definately aftermarket, 4pots are probably from a 99/00 classic(std fitment)

Regarding swapping, stuff like spoilers dont bother me,maybe i think wheels sorta look outta place but take no notice of me i like stuff to look cool but std-ish.If you want my honest opinion i`d like to see it with speedlines on but im old so dont worry about it

Re: What have I got here?

Here a fresh photo

I have just been told by a mate that this car has balanced internals from standard and is a very rare version 3, where most are version 2's (I think he means V-Limited's, not sure)

Thats good news about the suspension and brakes
