Time for some Treats(@ daves service shack)

Car`s stood around a bit over winter as when the weathers really poor i dont use it,the rear brakes ive put off for a bit but now are ready(and i`ll be glad to be shut of the tarox discs/pads to be honest)though still gotta order my pads(mintex 1155) from alyn @ AS Performance - Rally Motorsport Specialists

Did oil change yesterday (motul 300v 15w50 as per norm)and did the fuel filter earlier, plugs are ok at mo will change em in about a month.

Just gotta get it booked in for cambelt/clutch fluid replaced(its well ready) now an that`l do for a while hopefully.

Will take a few pics when i do the plugs and rear brakes though is fairly easy to be honest.

Re: Time for some Treats(@ daves service shack)

Notice you're using aftermarket fuel filter there Dave. Cheaper and/or better than oem? Though Subaru fuel filter aint exactly pricey.

Definitley be interested to see the pics of doing rear discs. An ything i can do myself is gonna save me yen.

Did my plugs, leads, fluids and filters over new year but tbh hasn't been running right since. Has always been slightly lumpy on idle (as seems to be normal with STi's) but had got even lumpier over the last coupla weeks. Rev counter stays stable at around 7000 Rpm but i know my motor and she aint right. Gonna check faul codes tomorrow and give the MAF a clean see if that helps.

Re: Time for some Treats(@ daves service shack)

Lol subaru fuel filters here ARE pricey mate ya should check Servicing : Subaru Impreza Genuine Fuel Filter

Thats just a random link aint looked for cheapest genuine or anything but think theyre between 25 an 30 at main stealers.

Aftermarket 7.99,tried one last service and`s been fine-wait till ya find out how much the rear discs were pmsl Go on ask me Ask me Ask me

(some of the cheapest discs ive bought for any car ive owned)

Ref rear discs ive done one set before its dead straight fwd,may have to adjust handbrake shoes up with the new discs bk on thats about as hard as it gets.(aint ordered the pads yet though)Removing pads/calipers just the same as on anything else.

Only time mines ever ran lumpy were maf related-suprising really as a few mates swore that a lightened flywheel would make for a uneven tickover on mine,if it feels like its missing slightly at high revs wayne mine did occasionally once gap your plugs to 0.8mm as at peak boost (about 14psi on mine somewhere around there)it were killing the spark slightly.Tried mine from 0.7-1mm just to see the difference ages ago-0.8mm works well for me.

(got magnecor kv85 leads on mine)

There is some things i wont compromise on but others if i think its neither here nor there wether its genuine or not will give em a go.

Its like brake pads i`ll always use good pads(though theres variations amongst fast road pads as to what works decent from cold and what doesnt)this is why i stick to mintex 1155 they just work better from cold.

Got genuine subaru std discs on the front unsure what i`ll try next though to be honest(hard to say i`ll see what these cheap rears are like as they dont get the abuse the front do and dont wanna buy some an have them warp within a month.)

Is that 30 quid the pair??? Even per disc that is stupid cheap (at Jap prices at least). Gotta get my discs done soon'ish tbh, though at those prices might wait until I get back home.

My cars running a little better. Bought some MAF cleaner and gave it a clean and whilst had airbox off put in new air filter and gave a few other sensors and connectors a good clean too. Seems to have helped so hopefully that will be that.

Thats great so was going to say gaps in plugs to Wayne as Dave said when I done mine 5mts ago the plugs said they were pre gapped so didnt bother checking the gaps thinking they be grand had all the plugs in air filter back in battery all that and started car and didnt idle right was thinking this and that and eventually said Id strip all down again air filter battery the whole lot for that very easy spark plug replacment job NOT!!!!! but anyway found that one of the plugs was at 0.5mm all the rest were at 0.7mm so adjusted the one plug to the 0.7mm like the rest put everything back together and ran fine ever since tank god............ so maybe if problem does come back maybe worth a look
As for the non genuine fuel filter I do exactly same as Dave if I can get away putting in an non original part I will If I have to go to dealer I will, but I am using an non original fuel filter to as their expensive here in subaru and no problems tank god

Yep 30 for a pair-couldnt believe it so i thought worth a go for that price bein picky they were just under 40 including carriage but still alot cheaper than locally.
