service history

what would you do?

my problem is that as my wrx is an import since 2007 it has no english service history so iam wondering.
iam looking to service my car cambelt plugs oil etc etc
do i pay for the specialist to do it so that my car will have some service history or should i do it myself which iam more than capable to do with my dad[very good mechanic tho not qualified]
but will have only the reciept for parts.
the cost of service would be 600 or to doing it myself 300including cambelt kit which brings me to another question how do i know if i need the kit or not

ps iam not selling the car but thinking for the future does so called service history help sell the car.

Re: service history

Only thing i dont do meself is the cambelt, mines about due actually, personally ive had one before an needed an idler pulley/hydraulic tensioner so whilst i agree its an expensive job given how long it`d been fine for (based on the cost of an engine if it all goes pete tong)think meself i`ll always fit a new tensioner-though pulleys will have to be showing signs of wear.

Let my service history lapse but keep receipts for everything,i always think if ya car looks straight enough an drives ok service historys neither here nor there especially with some of the muppets in dealerships these days, just a lack of pride in their work-mines never been to a main dealers only specialists for cambelt and gearbox rebuild.
