Happy with that.......I'll probably end up getting a standard wrx then so i can get an 06/07 plate....

To be perfectly honest with you gary i`d get a std wrx see how it goes mpg wise, then theres nothing to stop you sorting the power in you`re own time should the MPG be acceptable,in my opinion ppp isnt really worth it,choose your own mods later get a remap an it`ll be better than ppp anyway-the only real benefit is whilst the cars within manufacturer warranty(extended) with ppp youre covered with any other remap/mods via specialist/whoever your warranty`s void.

That said a mate of mines had work done on his 05sti under warranty an thats been remapped but his dad were a regular customer (had 3 scoobys new off of them)

I wouldnt buy a ppp car as i`d be removing most of the pack anyway though manufacturer warranty would never bother me as i wouldnt be buying one that new

(though mine were only 3yr old when i bought it, were fairly cheap at the time and out of warranty)

Re: Impreza or Audi A3 3.2Quattro

If you are happy with a standard wrx then thats the way to go get as new as possible they are quick enough in stock form anyway to be honest. I disagree with dave on the ppp though yes you can get more power off a full system and remap but it's not road lagal and also it drops the resale value of the car(alot of peolpe are put off by moded cars) where as a ppp adds value and sellability come trade in time thats why i went for ppp and also i personally couldn't be arsed with the hassel come mot time. Sometimes i wish i could have that extra 20-30 bhp that having no cats would give but i like the idea of the car being totally road legal...

Nothing to stop you putting the std bits bk on when you sell though is there so long as ya keep em.

std downpipe for mines still in the garage an will be with the car when i sell it, though i doubt very much the next owner(when the time comes) would want it on-however if they did would have no problem putting it bk on for them first.

Think the suspension would put most ppl off of mine to be honest, its quite hard riding-i just like the go-kart handling though ,been used to low hard suspension on previous cars.

Yer you could put them back on but would n't it run bad with the remap set up for a full system? What suspension you got coilovers or just springs?

Lol wouldnt be noticeable to drive in my opinion, ive got a koni sport kit, wouldnt recommend it to anyone though-dampers work fine its just that they`re top adjustable inserts not complete struts-have to cut youre old/existing struts above the spring seat drain and remove all the gubbins from ya strut drill hole in base of the strut body for insert to bolt through put a spacer come collar in the top(crap fitting one)drop insert in then bolt through base-really poor fitting an im sure theres play in em albeit slight-theyre about nackered anyway now though so will be replacing with KYB adjustables-complete struts not coilovers.

Too many bad reports about coilovers either not lasting long, rattling and being annoying or just plain being too hard riding for the road.

springs with my kit were 40mm lower which im happy at coilovers wouldnt make me drop mine or higher it i like its stance as is.

Re: Impreza or Audi A3 3.2Quattro

Had the both of my rear shocks renewed twice on 05 sti (26000 miles???2 new rear shocks aint good) under warrenty was thinking of coilovers when they need replacing again but will think twice now. Still would n't fancy a car that had a remap then put the old exhaust back on mighten run rough but fueling would be out and might go pop one day lol??????????????

Re: Impreza or Audi A3 3.2Quattro

Your fears and worries sound exactly like mine were. Since the Subaru imprezas came out and were winning the rallies I have ALWAYS wanted one. Years past, got married, house, kids and could never justify it. Around July/August this year I was thinking of replacing my old car and was looking at 05/55 focuses. Ideal for the family and for my wife to drive. Always thought I could never afford the style of impreza that I wanted nor the insurance. Looked into it and for a few hundred/thousand pound more than the focuses I saw that I could afford the car I have now.

I read through the websites and like you've already said - it seemed to be a big problem to own one. Took the car I have for a test drive and thought (to quote a famous sports brand) JUST DO IT!.

They truly are fantastic cars. Like ANY car out there - if you are driving it hard all the time then there has got to be a price to pay. Like many have said in previous posts, if you can strike a balance you shouldn't go far wrong. Each morning that I start it up in the garage I think JESUS! and it puts a smile on my face. Mine is the standard wrx so I can only imagine what the PPP and the STI's are like.

Good luck in your search.

Re: Impreza or Audi A3 3.2Quattro

Same here with family etc.....But unlucky or lucky i was injured at work so now i can finally afford one next month...I really haven't stopped smiling since i took the wrx for a test drive....Now i know i can afford one i now have to wait for 4 weeks to buy one

But my wife has a focus so really i can use that anytime to save the wrx on miles....I'm not working so i only have to take my boy to school and pick him up....so the mileage will be low unless i decide to take a leisurly drive somedays and have a play...

But the standard wrx is gonna be my choice

Re: Impreza or Audi A3 3.2Quattro

Again - similar with me. Work wise I sometimes use my wifes car to save on the miles with the wrx. My wife was 99% against me getting one but after I (safely) overtook another vehicle the power put a smile on her face. Now there are no objections when I take her car. My son too now looks out for other subaru's and usually see's or hears them before me. It's a definite must.

Re: Impreza or Audi A3 3.2Quattro

The blue ones are very nice. When I started looking that was at the top of the list. I ended up with a silver one - still as fast but doesn't stand out too much - which I like.
