my old classic had 320hp and did 18mpg where as mine new wrx is only 215 hp so i think that accounts for a lot

Re: wots your average mpg

How on earth are you getting 38 Mpg Tidgy?

And tbh 120 from a tank is pretty darn good. I average about 150 from a tank in the course of a week.

Re: wots your average mpg

The mpg is definantley frightening sometimes i drove middlesbrough to standstead ( i was late !!) which is just over 300 miles and i did two and a half tanks !!!!! Yes 2 and a half TANKS !....
And at motorway fuel prices it was not cheap!!!
I run a 1992 wrx thats pretty well modded but i was averaging 130-140 mph for over 2 hours !! ( 155 a few times also!). It was fun to do on empty roads (3am) but i only blinked three times the whole run !!!
I get about 20ish mpg around town tho !!!!
But i love the POWER !! thats why i bought a subaru and not a focus !!
I made my flight aswell !!!!!!!!

Not a lot

Maths not being my strong point i prob average 30 miles to a tenner of super. Have managed 40+ miles a couple of times.

Every time i fuel the car up i say to myself that i'll drive really carefully and see how good on fuel i can get it to be......and then i start the engine......and then i hear the filter drawing the air in as the turbo starts to spool and next thing i know my foot is planted and i'm thinking bollocks to the economy lol.

Doesn't matter as much to me to be honest though as i have a sensible diesel company car so the mrs uses the scoob more than i do, so the time's i do drive it it's generally pretty 'spirited' driving lol

Re: wots your average mpg

Glad to see this ones still ticking over.
I can empty the tank in my classic in about 150 to 180 miles, but agree with Tidgy that keeping it off the turbo can make huge savings, if you've got the discipline to keep the right foot under control.
I only drive my car once or twice every other week so I don't really notice the cost of the fuel going in.
Best result I ever acheived was 9mpg on a track day in my old STI.

Re: wots your average mpg

I filled up with 48.6 litres today. That last tank got me 242 miles which I reckon is 22.6 MPG. Wow! I'm clearly too light on the right foot compared with most of you.
