Just a question on my rear diff

Just a question on my rear diff , i have a 1993 wrx and the rear diff is leaking oil !!!! Is it hard to replace whatever gasket it is that has failed ?? And can any of you recommend some good suspension ? Just bought the car and it has HKS sus on it and its seriously undrivable !! The back end bounces off the road at the slightest bump/manhole and i mean leaves the ground !! I have to dip the clutch n ride it out !!! The car is lowered to the extreme and doesnt move if you stand on rear door sill and bounce !!! HELP PLEASE !!!!

Re: OIL QUESTION

AND !!! on gearboxes i had a 1991/92 ?that was notchy going up to 3rd and down from 5th to 4th and the box blew when i went to overtake a tractor on a country lane , i changed 3rd to 2nd (steadily aswell !!) accelerated went to go up to 3rd and box just went !!! As in no gears at all just loud noises !! The tractor driver laughed at me !! I ended up selling it as it rapidly turned into a money pit after that!!!! Hopefully i will have better luck with this one though !

hi their, is it leaking running down by where the drive shaft goes into the diff if so then you need to replace oil seal you will have to take out driveshaft remove seal and install a new 1, with suspension wise the KONI is suppose to be great but costly

Re: Just a question on my rear diff

Thanks 4 the quick reply ! Im booked in to have the suspension looked at tomorrow so i will have a good look around the diff on the ramp but it looks like its coming from the top of the diff ?Running down the flat back plate of diff . It appears that the sus is adjustable so im gonna keep me fingers crossed !!!! Seems ridiculous that HKS stuff wouldnt be adjustable !! It has threads on the strutts so it must be !!?? And while im on where do you get Motul oil from none of my local suppliers can get it ( 1 told me Comma oil is what i need !!!) I laughed at him and he said he could ORDER me some Castrol in if i wanted !!!!! But hes never heard of that there Motul stuff !!! AAAhhhh its great living in the back of beyond !!!!!

you think the oil coming out of the filler hole in diff if it is apply a fluid bonding to plug to seal it, or they a gasket between the front of diff looking towards the back of car held in with 8 bolts they a gasket here but wouldnt think its that at all either an oil seal on the left or right or the filler or drain plugs leaking it might be a hard find cause oil runs everywhere

as for the MOTUL that funny what the man said a lot of people recommend MOTUL used it before and it great oil but look up net for that cause im sure you'll find a stockist in a city near by ya

Re: Just a question on my rear diff

Is it (this is a stupid question !!) hard to remove the drive shafts ? As in lots of hammering to get out or is it pretty straight forward ?? I changed the shafts on our lasses 106 before and i wish i had taken it to a garage !!! I did it but it was one tedious hard slog !!!!

Re: Just a question on my rear diff

its not to bad to take them out on a two post lift by a mechanic but harder if you have your car up in axle stands yourself as you know with doing the 106 but it a tougher job on the impreza dont let the mechanic rob ya it a small job for them

Re: Just a question on my rear diff

For the Motul, why not try OILMAN. He is a member on here ('Opie oils' is the name of his company if i remember rightly.) and very very helpful. You may even get a deal if you tell bim you're a member of this site as i think we get discounts.
