Oil & Handbook!

Hi,
I've just purchased a 1997 Scooby Wrx sti Sportwagon. Absolutely love it.....though the wife has taken some convincing!
There's quite a few things that I'm hoping someone can help me with;
It's done 59000 miles and I was wondering how often I should be changing the oil and what type I should be putting in? I've had it a month and the oil indicator is already on low and I've hardly been thrashing it!
I've been told it needs to be serviced every 7500 miles...is that right?
I've been looking out for a handbook but I guess they don't exist...?
Is there anything I should be checking up on regularly?

you should look up """""pdf free service manual downloads sti impreza 1997""""" ( PDFtown ) i have downloaded a manual says 7500k miles or 6months to change oil and filter but i normally do mine at 5000k miles cause its great for the engine and turbo and would suggest that. I use 10w 40 castrol magnatec car runs great with that but ask your stockist they can tell you the best, I would have all fluids topped up if needed and check the gearbox oil level mine was low when i got it from japan. Hope that helps nice car aswell...........................
