FUEL QUESTION

Hi all
bought a sti v6 type ra jap import great car but here in ireland we run the 95 octane fuel and you know in japan it 100octane but asked so many mechanics that do i need to get it remapped for 95 octane they said no that the knock sensor will retard the timing so it dont detonate it completly standard but it still in back of mind cause dont want to wreck engine by running 95 octane would like to hear peoples opinions about it cause love the car and dont want to blow engine by running it to lean and when i do run the 95 oct fuel the engine runs smooth put in a octane booster and prob raised the octane number by 2-3 it stil didnt feel any diferent than the 95oct fuel alrite a smal bit nippier (faster) but that was it when i gave it a full service when i got it replaced the plugs and they was no sign of detonation on the 4 of them they done bout 1000miles with 95octane so any info would be great thanks

Re: FUEL QUESTION

Simple advise would be to put the best fuel that you can find in to your car. Everyone has a preference, I always use Tesco super unleaded as it is rated 99 RON. My car is also a Jap import and I've been ok. Try to stay off of the 95 RON.

Re: FUEL QUESTION

get it mapped mate,if you have the money get yourself an apexi or something along the same lines, ive a ver6 sti had it tested on the rollers before i fitted my apexi well down on power due to our poor fuel, now running 330,speak to all the big tuners and they will tell you the same the car will be down on power not running anywhere near its potential because of our fuel, mapping is a must mate once you have it done you will not belive the diffrence it makes.i would not give your car to much stick on 95 ron.speak to scooby clinic, roger clarke or alan jeffries[engine tuners] they are the boys in the know.very nice car buy the way mate good luck
