Thanks Team, just (3weeks ago) bought a 94 Sti off a guy who had blown the engine. 4 new pistons and full re-build later we're on the road... few teething problems though, mil light on...had knock sensor wired up to what must be a 'spare' connector at first, quick decode later and finding the right wire and that was sorted, but we have a heavy hesitation, by that I mean you're nearly through the windscreen, at around 4000 rpm. Going to checkout the forum now to see if there's anything to point us in the right direction... the dump valve etc were full of oil from the blown motor, we're going to give everything another good clean out tomorrrow.

sounds like your hitting fuel-cut, BUT if you are supposedly running in new pistons you want to be driving it easier than that...................

could be caused by various issues like contaminated/blocked boost solenoid, seized actuator, etc........

It's a gradual build up to 4000rpm, I'm not thrashing it...yet.
Codes read; map sensor and mass air flow.
Possible air leak as well?
Can a MAF problem show the MAP as a fault or visa versa?
When will Big Brother end?

Checked pipe work...... 3 pipe boost solenoid.. two pipes on wrong way. Runs fine now.
