afterburner vortex exhaust...
alright everyone!
i'm late posting this up, but a few weeks ago i ordered the AFTERBURNER VORTEX from scoobyworld built for them by hayward and scott. i just want to let everyone know that its been on a few weeks now and im definately happy with it. everyone is worried about noise levels being too high or too low with different exhausts, but the sound of this is superb. its only the back box, and i recommend changing just that if you want a sporty tone thats not racey or offensive. it has a lovely tickover burble, pops between 1,2,3 gears and also manages to be quiet inside the cabin. you can hear its there, but its a nice non intrusive tone, even if you keep the window down. i myself am going for a removal of the middle silencer AND a sport cat or maybe a decat in the centre. im assuming this wil make the noise even more aggressive. but i just wanted to get across the fact that anyone looking for a decent exhaust should have a look at this one! its alot quieter than the videos suggest on the scoobyworld site, but im guessing thats cos ive got only the back box and no decat etc. another point... i ordered it on a thursday morning, recieved it friday morning, and it was fitted by lunchtime. only downside was it couldve had a bit more padding in the packaging. hope this helps anyone wanting an exhaust. message me if you want pics etc. |

removing the silencer in the middle section may add to a lot of cabin drone. think carefully on that one. one day you may want to change the down pipe, which makes the whole thing really loud! i've got a full decat with no silencer and a ninja back box, and it is anything but discrete - to say the least. i now wish i had bought a centre section with a silencer.

so whats the deal with decatting? i mean in terms of getting stopped by old bill.
i had a right 'bullied in school' copper pull me over the other day saying 'do i think its clever to drive around with an illegal exhaust' my reply was 'no, thats why i dont drive around with an illegal exhaust'. bad move as he turned into even more an idiot after that. anyway i got a MOT centre thing where i have to have tested. obivoulsy it wil pass as i only have back box and thats it. but what do you boys do in that situation? i know you can take one cat off and be safe? so maybe a sport cat downpipe rather than removal and a middle cat removeal ? |

Hi sir sorry sir wont do it again sir ever so sorry sir stupid of me sir you wont catch me doin it again sir, personally never been in the situation except for when i were with a mate in his scooby an we got threatened with a section 59 for the noise, but it were only a threat.
Is it me or are folks not as hardcore as they used to be ![]() Worry about it when it happens remember ya bought the car like that, keep the cats if necessary to replace for mot check slip thing ya get should ya get one after sorted with police go home remove and replace easy as that-if folks dnt drive like twats everywhere theres no need to worry. Drive like a twat everywhere folks deserve to get pulled.Ive had more trouble with other cars ive owned with sunstrips but dnt get me started on that.I hate police. |

i had similar problem with a sunstrip and window tints on a car.
manufacturers standard tints were illegal levels. i hate police too. i have a battle at the moment with them about doing 70 on a dual carriageway that is actually a 30 but has no signs to say so. only in the other direction. seems they only show enforcement in crimes that earn money. like the news that new speed cameras have caught more people and its 600% worse than last year... and this has helped accidents drop..?? surely the more people you catch the more people are speeding. so the cameras are catching and not preventing. essex polic and motorway police roam my area. theyre EVERYWHERE and only car about car crimes. and having a black 57 plate attracts a pull over and 'see if we get lucky on breathaliser or drug search' every night. anyway back on track, ideally id like a single pipe from engine to back. imagine what a wonderful noise that would make. sadly, gone are the days of putting a different car on the emissions tests of mot's hehe. |
