I'd go as new as possible(blobeye is the best) so you get a good solid car. The good classics are becoming harder to find.

Get a classic and start with a lighter more precise package (not that im bias)Later cars are much heavier (however more refined-again depends what your after-personally if i wanted more refined would have bought a bm/audi etc lol)some folks are bothered about the image slightly of classics as they become cheaper for the average joe to afford etc,at the end of the day it boils down to how much of a snob you are or how much of a purist you are and which shape impreza made you want one etc etc.

Best thing is to drive both then decide but a std wrx bugeye is slower than a uk classic, in fact me mates 320bhp uk300 were only faster after 80/90mph reckon mine with full decat/filter no remap at a guess is running about 240bhp. thats the weight difference mainly-really suprised me.
