Exclamation What spec is my GC8?

Hello guys,

Need your help here. I have uploaded the photos of the console, engine bay and C.differential.

Could anyone please tell me what spec is mine ? UK spec? JDM? and most importantly what is the stock BHP? Applied model is GC8EK8D, engine EJ20GNW6ND, tranny TY752VN5BA.











By the way, can someone tell me how the C.Differential works and how to use it? I have no idea at all. How do i know that it is still functionable?

GC8EK8D = MY97 4 door UK Turbo.

Max output. PS@ rpm 211@5600

Max torque. Nm@ rpm 290@4000

Suretrac: Only available on the 2004 STi. Manufactured by AP Racing, this unit comes stock in the front differential of the 2004 STi. It is a mechanical type differential that employs a set of specially shaped teeth to intelligently transfer power, unlike the bevel gears that are used in conventional LSDs. Very similar in operation to the torsen type, though through different mechanical means.

Open differential: Used as the front differential in the WRX/RS. In a nutshell, it’s one wheel drive. The wheel with the least amount of traction will have majority (if not all) of the vehicle’s power applied to it.

DCCD: Short for Driver Controlled Center Differential. Used on the STi. Planetary center differential in conjunction with an electronically managed continuously variable transfer clutch. And as the name suggests, it allows the driver to control the torque bias of the center diff by a turn of the thumbwheel.

so does it mean that mine shown on the 1st picture is a DCCD? If yes, my dashboard does not has any indication or symbol to shows the setting. How do I know whether it is functioning or not?

Please advise.

No UK classic turbo had adjustable centre differential (P1?) the JDM Sti 3/4/6 Type R had adjustable centre differential.

ah guys... my mechanics checked for me already ... it is a fake C.diff.. just for show... really wonder why the previous owner love to spend time & money doing nothing useful ..... lol

by the way, my mechanics told me that the timing belt need replacement .. the mileage is now 89,000km. he quoted me with all the bearings and oil seals. Are they necessary to be changed at the same time? Can i just changed my timing belt because i didnt hear any noise coming from the bearing.

please advise.... my car is still stuck in the workshop ...

hahaha .. it has been almost a month.. got the HKS air filter, HKS Hi-Power muffler, TEIN Type HA fully adjustable .... Greddy Profec B Spec II.. replaced the timing belt system, fuel filter... was hoping for a good drive

BUT .....

there were jerks while boosting up to 0.8 bar when i floored it... maybe the fuel pump or the ignition system is out ... sigh....

yeah !!! finally troubleshoot what was the problem with the boost jerkings... changed to walbro fuel pump .. definitely pump more than 3.0 litres per min .. but it still didnt solved the problem..

then the mechanic swap my ignition coil cables with the NGK Power cable ... took it for a sprint... whow ... 0.9 bar ... steady ..

however... now i realised it wasnt fast enough ... lol... yeah .. i know .. my bad
