Deal or no deal??!

Hi there - im a newbie!

I have driven a Legacy for 12 years but have always hankered after an impreza. I have been offered a 2001 WRX with prodrive for 6.5K. My concern is its done 130k miles . It looks in great nik but i wonder what service bills i will have to look forward to. On the face of it, is the price reasonable?

thanks

i`m sure there`s a buying guide/list of things to look out for somewhere on here. I can never find it though

in my opinion I wouldn`t worry too much about it having done 130k. Modern engines seem to be able to go on for ever

sounds either like a complete bargain for 5k or too good to be true though

Wouldnt worry too much about the mileage its probably had 2 or 3 rebuilds by now and a new gearbox so the expensive bits should be ok

thanks people. That checklist is useful. I should be able to borrow the car for a day to get a mechanic to go through it... not mechanically minded myself! - though I reckon I could perform the fag burn check ...

What should 5k get you average impreza wise?

dont go along with book values though mate and wouldnt sell mine to a average impreza buyer would have to be an enthusiast though to be fair will be keeping mine at least another 5yrs there really aint anything else i want. if ya can afford to wait for a buyer ppl will pay half decent money but the cars gotta be in really good condition-not the average
