The other night I had a BMW M3 (E30) convertible come tearing up behind me, normally I would just carry on driving at my pace but this guy was up for little race and who am I to deny him.
I came off a roundabout in second and gave the Scooby some welly checked the mirrors and he was still there, just a little further back, came to another roundabout and he is almost inside my boot (Im still gentle with cornering), after the roundabout I gave the Scooby a bit more than before and found that I was actually pulling away from the guy, up into 3rd and im getting some distance from him, came to another roundabout where I decided that was it, I felt the Scooby was quicker and did not want to risk my licence anymore.
I have just looked at the Technical spec for the BMW and assuming it was standard it would appear that my car may be running quicker that I thought.
This was taken from a BMW website:
The E30 M3 is one of the most nimble BMW's ever made, with its 4-cylinder M Power engine, aggressive tires and brakes, and a special sports suspension package. While the wide wheel wells were designed to accommodate racing tires, the styling adds some needed curves to the otherwise straight E30 body. The rear-wing spoiler provided aerodynamic stability for racing, yet enhanced the overall visual appeal. The suspension and braking were upgraded, the gearbox had a race-style, dog-leg first gear and the 238 hp M engine featured a 16-valve cylinder head modeled after the famous BMW M1 engine.
