Question Fuel light roulette

Had my T plate Impreza Turbo for a day now, and already gone through over a tank and a half of fuel! In fairness though, I did drive from Leeds to Silverstone today....My question is, when the fuel light comes on, generally how much fuel is left? The needle seems to be pretty low, as though it is about to cut out at any time! On average, if you were on the motorway cruising at about 70mph, how many miles do you think you have left? I do a lot of motorway driving, and so would appreciate knowing how far I've got to panic about being between services!

Depends on how you drive as it depends on if the roads are empty or full, stop starts all the time...

I've managed 327 miles from my Type R (un tuned, standard map) and I've had 2 gallons left in the tank.. That was just on the middle line on the E on the guage...

The Subaru's do use the juice a bit mate, so dont be suprised if you use the boot and go a bit at times

Keep a check when you fill up, re-set the trip counter and do the mileage, when you fill it up, note the mileage travelled, litre's used and work out what you've used

I wish I could get 300 miles out of the tank Can only seem to manage 100 at the moment then i fill it up when its at quarter of a tank. Best i`ve managed since I`ve had it was about 160 and that was when I took it to the UK a few years ago

With a re-map mate, I'm told I'll get even more

Cheers for that, think I can probably average around 300 a tank (2/3 of my mileage is motorway miles). Just had a shock last week when I bought it - used to getting over 425 miles a tank out of my old VTR! Will probably get more when the novelty of thrashing it everywhere dies off and I stop taking my mates out to show off!

Keep off the boost mate and all is well Use the boost all the time you'll be lucky to see 150 miles from a tank!! Not cheap when you've got growing fuel prices

Above all, drive safe mate and carefull No point showing off and hurting yourself doing it Save that for the track

easiest way (not recommended though)buy a gallon of fuel in a can and when the light comes on re-set the ODO, and when you stop to a halt because you have ran out, look at your clocks and there is your answer

Cheers for that, obviously I was exaggerating slightly about thrashing it EVERYWHERE! Just out of interest, do people find any particular fuel more suits their car? I found Esso super in the VTR was the best, but I have been using V-Power so far in the Impreza...
