Brake Upgrade on Impreza Turbo MY98
I need to fit new pads to my impreza its a Uk MY98 Turbo.
Now that this needs to be done i thought of upgrading the brakes as it only has the 2 pot on the front. I don't want to go silly and spend a fortune but would like to upgrade to four pots wether it be subaru 4 pots or aftermarket 4 pots i dont mind but i do need to do it on a tight buget whatever i fit they are going to be better then whats on there at the moment. I did think of staying with the 2 pots and fitting better disks and pads and brake lines. The only mods on the car are a full decat turbo back Haywood and Scott exhaust but i might do more in the future to get more power so the brakes really need to be able to cope with this. Any ideas or help as to what to buy would be great. Im from Colchester Essex so any local members want to chat give me a shout. Thanks Everyone. DASCO |

tbh the 2 pots are a bit week brake wise, y subaru fitted such poor brakes to such a powerfull car is anyone guess. to get better brakes you realy need to change them to the 4 pots, pads and disks will help but not alot.

I would go with some 4 pots from a later scooby. Give http://www.essexsubarubreakers.co.uk/ a try. They should be able to help you out.

I did the upgrade on my last car. Yes they are a lot better with heat dissapation for repeated heavy braking. But biting force aint much different otherwise. i think a very good quality pad and nice thick discs on two pots are about equal to four pots for normal road use. Proper baking upgrades cost a good bit more. It might be better saving up towards these than going to 4`s and then thinking of upgrading these at a later date. sliders can be a pain in the arse though if they aint looked after.

Depends on how much you want to spend mate..
I've had the orignals 4 Pots that came with my Type R, I've had the newer big Brembo's and now I've got AP's ![]() Money no object?? AP's all the way ![]() If you've a budget, decent disc's and pads really can make a difference, but I'd personally recommend something like a Brembo upgrade or another 4 pot big brake conversion.. Really are worth their money in gold at times ![]() |
