Impreza Wheels Question

Hey guys, first post, prolly a dumb question but I wouldnt mind some answers! heh

Ok, I bought an 2007 impreza 2.0i (Austalia) model 3 weeks ago. I wanted to buy stock standard 17" WRX mag wheels for my car. I asked subaru via email if it is possible and they basically said it would void my warranty because the car would then be unsafe because the wheel placard(??) is not recommended to have 17" wheels. Howvere, I can get 16" (or 15" i think) 2.0R mag wheels.

I thought it would not have mattered! I would have been down to my local subaru dealer by now but last week some MORONS broke my driver window on my new car and about 7 other cars where I work to try and steal valuables. yeah... anyways guys, any information would be GREATLY appriceated.

Was a bit sad when the email said I couldnt or gave me a warning or somthing.

Subaru Australia will not recommend performing wheel swap from model to
model or the use of non-genuine wheels due to safety & legal obligations
and compliance with ADR rules. The tyre placard fitted to your vehicle
applies to Australian design rules and does not display the option of
17-inch wheels for your model.
If you choose to fit alternative wheels to your vehicle please be aware
that the warranty of associated components can be jeopardised as can the
road holding qualities. The insurance cover of the vehicle should also
be checked with your insurance company.
Using tyres of a non-specified size detracts from controllability, ride
comfort, braking performance, speedometer accuracy, odometer accuracy,
and may result in damage and/or injury. It also creates incorrect
body-to-tyre clearances and inappropriately changes the vehicle's ground
clearance.

technically any modificatiopn will invalidate your warrenty, uinless its done buy a dealer and approved. such as the PPP.

17's on a new age aka hawk eye are standard in the uk, and prodrive upgrade them to 18's, however this is the uk not australia, but i find it hard to believe the have different rules.

but they have the final say i'm afraid so unless you go down the route of having them changed and killing your warrenty your a bit stuck i think

I would go to your dealer and ask them. Over here some dealers take a different approach and allow certain mods. The stance from Subaru itself will always be the same. Dealers are a bit more flexible .
