Another problem...GRRRRRRR
Hey guys, I encountered yet another problem today. And need some help.
Basically went to get my car lowered on some Tein springs today at a garage. They fitted three of them no problem, but when it came to the front driver side...a big problem. The guy said (and showed me) how the suspension top mount had been worn and ripped, as a result he said it was too dangerous to drive with it. So he couldnt finish the lowering and after getting on the phone to Subaru, the best i could get was next day delivery of the part at £150!!! Meaning the car had to be left at the garage overnight. To say I'm p***ed is an understatement. My question is, why has this happened on a 2003 car? I bought the car from an independent dealer only a month ago. Is there any way I can get onto trading standards about this one, because this is not the only problem I've had, yet had the car only a month. ![]() |

Would guess a springs become dislocated at the top at some point and then the suspension compressed with it not seated right in the top spring seat and has damaged the rubber, either by being jacked up or may already have lowering springs in of sorts sometimes if just the springs are changed the travel on the struts is sometimes more than the full extension of the spring coz its shorter than the std ones-not a problem when the weight of the cars on it though if the cars been jacked right up or been airborn at any time then compressed unseated(unlikely but possible)it "could" push on the top rubber at an uneven angle causing more pressure in one place hence a split/damaged rubber would need pics though really before guessing any further, either that or it were never fitted right in the first place.
questions then 1)what warranty did you get with it 2)how many miles has it done 3)is your mechanic prepared to do any sort of report to say it were unroadworthy as you took it to him would have thought if you can prove unroadworthyness you`d have some sort of case though personally for 150quid i`d just put it down to wear an tear unless it is covered by warranty anyway.
