Presume you got a guarentee on the work, probably only 3 months though...

Prova ECU's are programmed for Jap fuel I believe so that would/could cause a problem in a very short time. My son's friend has had similar where it was not mapped for UK fuel. Went bang on No 2 & 3 within about 3,000 miles... Hard driving though

Legally I do not think they are obliged to help unless the guarentee covers to now...
Not what you want to here. Just my thoughts. You may be right about not being right from day one of the rebuild but did you tell them at the time, cos if you did you can remind them of that fact...

"Now six months later the piston or pistons have blown again/misfiring engine,to put it bluntly the impreza never been right since he did the work,so i took it up to them, and an argument insued, blaming me because of the prova-ecu,saying that was the cause of the engine blowing again"

i reckon thats a cop out because if that were the cause of the first failure surely you wouldnt have the engine rebuilt and left on that ecu............would ya????????????
If so surely they`d have said to you look we arent giving you any warranty with that ecu running things.

need more info please mate before we judge anyone.

So the ecu were left on a while after the rebuild.....you did run it in approx 1000mile did ya or did ya return it before then faulty.

the Jap aftermarket ECU's (and even certain JDM factory versions) can have some very aggressive ignition settings in them, and even without boost allow a car to run far leaner/detonate than is required for our fuel...........

have you had an ECU diagnosis?? fault codes??

Always a bit of a risk when dealing with places like that mate,as far as rebuilds go i`d have 3 options subaru themselves-but unlikely,Roger clark or paul at zen performance-in fact when mine goes will more than likely end up at zen pauls a top bloke and his prices are very reasonable.
Tidgy will be along soon to mention scoobyclinic no doubt which is another option for you if ya dont want hdc to sort it.

I've heard bad things on API and I wouldnt go there, just on word of mouth.

I've delt with Alyn from AS Performance (even though he's 450miles away from me) and I would go there again (nice trip up mind ) Anyways, Paul at Zen Performance is another top bloke to have work done with, would recommend him as well

Personally (and I think Dave agrees with me here - am I right?! ) you get what you pay for at the end of the day.. Zen might charge £50 an hour for labour, but they would sort out any problems and are great people to talk too if there's a problem
