Question parts list for an import???

ok so my fan/alternator belt started squealing recently and as my 95wrx wagon is a nice clean low miler i thought as it's pay day ill treat to a genuine part,so off i trot into the dealers, but to be told the only way they can match the part is to take it in and even then would have to be ordered???,and kinda difficult as car is used daily,so i'm wonderin if there is a list out there to match jap to uk parts?if anyone gets my drift?
or atleast the part number for my belt, like I SAID ITS 95wrx wagon with aircon, and yes already tried motor factors, and they were on about takin off aswell?

Surely the uk classic with aircons the same belt-if the belts slipping though means its stretched and slack-try adjusting the tension by moving the alternator (is on mine i think anyway tho no aircon)only reason i`d change the belt is if its perished or split along one of the grooves on the belt(check mine fairly regularly) if that happens they usually jump a slot on the pulleys and start stripping the end bit off on the pulley edge and eventually snap or drop off.Wouldnt be put off by a motorfactors wanting the belt off though to match its length if theyre pretty sure theyve got something very close.
