You dont really need one of these 350bhp or 400bhp plus..

Standard internals arent too bad and could cope with 350bhp ok.

The forge pistons and rods would cost 1000, nothing much really... then your good for about 500bhp... (with turbo and injectors maybe... )

Lets say I was looking into it....

doesn't mater what power your running phill, the whole point of a front mount is it brings inlet temps down better than a top mount. 1 degree = about 1 bhp less .

so if the inlet temp is up by 50 dgrees wether your car is running 215 or 515 your still lossing 50bhp.

admitedly on higher power cars it will make more difference, but inlet temps are an issue in hot wether on all cars.

I wasnt really meaning the intake and so on, but just things work ok with the standard bits.

The front mount will always be the better way to go of the two, just depends if your really gonna make the most of it I guess

I wonder why Subaru havent made a front mount upgrade from themselves already.....

FMIC does help lower the air intake temps.

Best off to put a ACT gauge in and see what the temps are first before chucking a few hundred that could be spent on summant more fun.

always a good idea to uprate the intercooler if undertaking any engine modifications.

How come you've not added a FMIC with the power you've got then JD? I know you have a uprated top mount, but still gives you that problem surely??

I had the uprated top mount before the tubby got changed.

I would go front mount, but at the monet the i/c stays quite cool (see this months Jap Performance for proff).

I agree with checking the inlet temps, but with any mod that will increse the boost an uprated intercooler is a must, again see this months Jap Performance for proof of back to back tests.

Well with the re-map I'm hoping to have, I should have the boost upped to 1.35 bar at utmost But anything that would give me, 320Bhp or so would be fine for me More interested the torque mind... 300lb ft would be nice.....

As i said earlier, read the article in Jap Performance, gives a good indication of what happens when the boost is upped.

Hyperflow? Are they a fairly cheap upgrade? Most Front mounts are near the £1000 mark

Yeah and the best IC was the ScoobyClinic FMIC done at a test by ScoobyClinic.

I agree that FMIC are better then top mounted ones just check the temps before chucking money away.
