Which car is a better race car ?

Hi All

There are a number of car specifications that I am allowed to present my car in to tarmac rally in Australia.

Question is: do any of these cars have an advantage over a spec C, such as bigger turbo etc..

Impreza WRX PPP
Impreza STi P1
Impreza WRX type UK
Impreza WR 1
Impreza RB5 PPP
Impreza 22B
Impreza Turbo

Are there any other cars released from Subaru in quantities of more than 500 and must have a 0-60MPH time of less than 4.8 seconds to be eligible

Thanks
Dave

im assuming you mean 0-60?

the spec c is the true rally breed from the above list - its a light weight off the shelf package that is stripped to the bare bones. The only thing that would be different to the above list would be the 22b where by you get a bigger engine over the standard 2.0 ltr.

the p1 would be next in line for me as to the performance and lightweight build of the car... BUT any spec c is already there... Any of the above would get to Spec C if alot of stripping were to take place..

Your forgetting the Type R which is where the P1 came from as the P1 is a stripped out model which didnt come with some of the toys the Type R has, such as DCCD for a kick off...

Personally all depends on cost and how much you'd want to spend I think... The newer Litchfield Type 25 looks the dogs and with 415bhp and nearly as much torque, its a pure beast. But that does cost £40,000 plus any extras (bigger brakes, better clutch etc...)

if its a rally car then presumably Australia has the same rules as the rest of us and you'll be stuck with 2.0ltr.....................

like all things cost is the main factor, but if your looking for the latest spec car then the spec-C is specifically built for this process, be aware that there are a couple of different spec-C's dependant on the end result your looking for.......

Thanks all

There is one S202 which snuck through before the new rules came out and it is now allowed to continue to run until January 2008. It won the big Targa event in Australia - Targa Tasmania in 2004, a 6 day event. They won't accept any more "S" type cars.

We are allowed any production car, provided it makes the production numbers and is not to much of a race car - Things like the Enzo, F50, GT3 Cup car. Evo's MR FQ-400 (what ever that is). The cars hard to beat are the Porsche Turbo, GT2 and 3, the Lamborghini Gallardo's, and the Evo's.

Cars like the P25 don't make it because of the numbers. If Subaru made it; it might get through as a production variant, That's how the 22B is approved.

Mine is an MY05 Australian delivered STi which I am changing to Spec C to run the twin scroll turbo with a lower weight with a few other trick bits. I was looking through the eligible cars and found the list above and wondered if there was anything better.

Thanks, sounds like I'm on the right track.

The Type R is the same car as what I started out with... I must admit its changed a little bit since then, but maybe worth a look.
Its not as such a limited edition (depends on model you buy) but they are a very fast car even in standard trim.

If you want, I can send you a spec list that Bob sent to me when I had mine. Maybe that might answer a few of your questions?
