![]() I live abroad and I came a cross a 2006-STI, which was originally ordered for one of the sheikhs of Qatar (huh ... Yeah...I know!!). Anyways, it found its way to where I live, which is Saudi Arabia, and it's for sale. So, before I buy it I decided to check on its VIN number on the web, which is: JF1GDFLH365058892. Some numbers check out except the 6th to 8th and 12th to 17th digits. The 6th to 8th are not numbers actually they are the letters: FLH. The web says for an STI the 7th digit should read 0 (zero), which is not the case here. The 12th to 17th digits do not start with the number 5, they start with zero. So, what is it? A'mean, it's looks and feels like an STI (even when I checked under the hood and the car itself). Could it be that for special made ones they have special VIN numbers? Because, no web-VIN checker could ID the vehicle. Or Japan-made ones subscribe to another VIN standard? (which I do not think so!) So, any idea on how I can clear this VIN number? BTW, they don't sell STIs in Saudi Arabia or I would have went to the dealership. In fact this might be the only 2006 STI in the country.
Thanks guyz! Yaz |

(correction)-need Help With This Vin Nymber
Thanks guys, Actually I made a mistake in the VIN. The correct one is JF1GDFLH36G058892 (I mistakenly wrote down 5 instead of a G)
![]() Yeah I figured out that JF1 means Japan. But GDF for an STI, hmm this is a first (comferting news though!). How come it's not published as so? Attached is what I have found on the web (from a US-site) that says otherwise. You can see how different the decoding is. Even with the correction stated above, G instead of a 5, this tells me that it is supposed to be a 5-speed trany instead of the 6-speed (even more ![]() |

Thanks Guyz!
I also managed to get a hold of a 2006 STI VIN, which has exactly the same first 12 digits (JF1GDFLH36G0XXXXX). I got it off of a "display" model the delearship brought (more like a: Dis-NO-Play model!). So I stand corrected, it turns out that there are -2- 2006 STIs in Saudi Arabia! This is how it looks like: |
