off the top of my head i think there approx this

Cat a - major structural damage, unrepairable no mater cost, car to be scrapped

cat b - major damage, unrepairable without considerable cost

cat c - medium damage, none finantial viable to repaire

cat d - minor damage, repairable

bear in mind these are all based on cost to repair, so a bent pannel on a old car can make it cat-c, re-shelling is a common one when a car sufferes structural damage.

in all cases as long as the job is carried out profesionaly and all parts needing to be are replaced then car will be fine even if it has a record. just means you pick up a bargin
