im planing on buying a 03 or 02 bug eye WRX (usdm)
then buy the jdm engine and trany
but sence im only now geting in to the subaru world i need some help
1)please if any one can, tell me the different specs on the diff versions of the
jdm sti. (how many gears? HP? ft.lbs.?)
2)i also noticed that here in the states only the 05and 04 model has the dccd
is there any way to implement that in to my bug eye scooby if i kept the ej20
maybe a trany swap? would it just bolt on?
3)is there a 6 speed bug eye scooby, cuz there aint one in u.s.
4)also i want a comperison
what do u think i should do?
i plan on ether buying the ej20 and strokin it up to 2.5
or would i be better off buying the 05 or 04 model wich in the states is 2.5 300hp and 6gear dccd?

please any extra help will be greatlly apreshiated
-thanx Alex

for all those plans, why not just buy the 04 or 05 model.

the only reson i want the 03 is becouse its cheeper and its something i can mees with rather then the 05 parts are more expensive and i would be to scared to mess with the already powerfull set up of the 05

ok here goes,

the 05 jdm engine produces 276bhp and similar ft'lbs, 6 gears
the 06 jdm engine produces same bhp, but higher torque (not sure exactly what)

to get the dccd your gonna need to change the diffs, and tbh not sure if they are compatable with the bug eye (should think so thoug)

not sure if theres a standard bug eye 6 speed but a new sti 8/9 6 speed box will fit on no probs (might need a coupl eof slightly different parts, clutch fly wheel etc

for all your doing the cost is gonna be huge, your gonna pretty much end up changing the whole engine and running gear, prob rough guess about 10-15k about $20,000-$30,000, would def be cheaper to switch to higher spec car.

other option is to throw that money at it and get a full custom build engine gearbox etc

ahh righto lol, might be wrth just putting money in bank and saving up and having it all done at once, or whoel suspension set up sorted, then engine, if you try to do one part at a time your gonna get mega mismatch between parts aka the turbo, your either gonna have to buy 2 or 3 turbos as you gradualy upgrade or one turbo at the start which is way ott or have a realy underpowered one for the rest of the engine
