import vs uk (burble)

hey all just a quick question i have a my96 jap scooby with an afterburner center section and backbox that sounds great but a bloke that drives past my work every day has a uk
my98 with the same exaust system sounds alot deeper and nicer than mine ,is there something different between jap imports an uk cars that make uks sound better or is it to do with the newer engine

Hi

Don't know but im sure someone might. Perhaps if someone drove past your work in your car it would sound the same!

Just a thought and welcome 2 .org

Kev.

could be various things, is the downpipe/centre section same diameter on both cars?

are both cars remapped?

different engines will have different tolerances so sound different

I'm thinking of getting the ninja sports cat and a blitz power filter from scoobyworld is this likely to enhance the scooby sound as well as the power

just re-read the post again, bet he's got a full decat, compared to your partial decat, thats what the difference will be, doubt, you'll not find much differance unless you get downpipe cat out.
if you put sports cat back on it will be much quieter
thing is if you do that a remap is recomended to stop boost problems

A sports cat shouldnt have that much of a difference when it comes to the sound and certainly not the performance compared to the full de-cat This is why I'm getting a sports cat rather than a de-cat mainly for the MOT's and the fact that I'd loose maybe one or two BHP so I'm really not all that worried

An Apexi ECU and commander I think can be bought and mapped for about £750... Its a lot of money and I'm about to find out myself, how much better the car is for it I'll post the results
