sva my import wrx

i have brought my wrx import back from cyprus.

The vin number is JF1GC8KD3YG0*****

APPLIED Number GC8HKD

ENGINE TYPE EJ205NW2KD

it is a wrx ,but i have just found out that it has a sti engine which is not the original engine.

what do i tell the sva centre. Do i tell them it is a WRX OR STI

because the engine is not recorded on my docs?

i know i only need to tell them the 280bhp/6500rpm but surely DVLA and my insurance would need to know????????

Will this cause me problems?

and what should i do???

um firstly - how do you nkow the engine has been changed? secondly why was it changed?

its a tricky one - its a WRX with a modification in my view? whats others??

yeah agree answred in hello thread but, cant see it being an issue due to sti's already being in the uk , just be considered a moded wrx

The Engine I Believe Was Changed Before I Bought It. As The Garage Heard Some Problems With The Engine. Hoewever They Did Not Not Tell Me They Had Changed It Before I Bought It.

just spoke to the man in the know about sva, it shouldn't be a problem at all as long as conversion been done properly

cheers mate i know the conversion was done correctly as my mate from subaru has checked the engine out . it was just the fact that the new engine was there and i did not know if it was legal or not???????

so from now on after the sva i should tell the insurnance that it is now an sti and get ready for the insurance to go up

um tech no just that its had conversion done, not sure how insurance companies will look at it, if its anything like i got told, you pay the equivelant of what ever car the engine came out of as i've been told so you will be paying as if for sti. but will vary from insurance company to company.

the insurance comapny prob wouldn't even know if they sent engineer to look at it anyway cos engine bay looks the same as i understand

ihave got some mods on the car

defi guages and boost controller.

hks dump valve. and hks turbo timer.

and a water tank in the boot for the intercooler.

can u tell me what the water tnk and boost controller is for????????

your choice wether to tell or not. beer in mind will invalidate your insurance if they find out

intercooler water spray is design to help cool air in the intercooler by putting water on the surface to increase heat movement, does it work? honestly dont know.

boost controller allows you to change the boost pressure comming out of the turbo, be VERY VERY carefull if you touch this cos can very easily cause engine to go bang due to over pressuring.

as above mate, help cool engine in the case of water spray and control pressure comming from turbo, can be used to increase or decrease it, but be carefull with it

i take it i have to go to a garage that specialises in performance cars to get this set up properly.

what other mods that are not in the thousands can u reccomend?

i would like the fog light covers.

and also a new exhaust so i can hear that distinct sound from about a mile away

i have also got a prob with my front fog lights. dont seemto work, have looked at the fuses they seem fine. seems funny that both bulbs would go at the same time.
