hey guys just wondering if anyone uses tescos 99 ron superunleaded instead of shell,do i still need octane boost or is 99 enough for my classic import

There was an article in Japenese performance or Banzai last month where they compared fuels and the Tesco fuel came out 3rd...

Optimax was the best followed by BP Ultimate then Tesco 99ron

Try it and see how you like it. My car was mapped by Andy F for Optimax yet the car runs much better on Tescos 99. I have just put a tank of Optimax in a couple of days ago before I head up to Andy's again (no Tescos 99 up there) and the car feels really crap. It just feels like it is holding back. On the 99, boost builds quicker and it hits harder. The low down pull is significantly less than the Tescos 99. I am going back to Tescos 99 and am taking a few cans up to Scotland with me to top up before the remap. The fact that it is 2p/l cheaper as well is a bonus.

Optimax isn't a guaranteed RON rating...it is "about" 98.5. Tesco's, by having a 99RON sticker on all pumps are guaranteeing a minimum of 99 octane. That in itself speaks volumes.

That's interesting. Our car runs better on Tesco 99 than any of the other fuels about and was also mapped by Andy F. We also get a lot more miles per tank full with the 99 (and club points too

ive been looking at getting a remap but im new to tuning ,andy f sounds populer where is he and how much would a remap on my 96 import cost can anyone give me his number

Does anyone have a link to the 'review' of the different petrol? We dont have the Tesco 99 ron down here, but I just use the Sainsburys super unleaded (which I believe is BP Super?) and I dont use any octane booster.

Just wondering what the results where... Did the have a video to it at all?

ive used sainsburys super unleaded and my car didnt like it (lumpy)

Not any real experisence with the scoob yet but the integra favourites

1 - Tesco 99
2 - Sainsbury unleaded
3 - Optimax
4 - Unleaded
5 - and last BP Ultimate

my mate put in his 03 CTR once as a get me home £10 it ran like a piece of crap (optimax usually)

Its weird but mine seems fine on Sainsburys super... I know of a few other mates that use it and they get no problems at all either.. Well, none that I have been told about anyways!!
