What WRX?

I hope someone can help me.

Im going to look at a 1994 (L) import. I have noticed that some WRX's have 240BHP and others have 280BHP, why is this and is this the only difference in the 2 models? Its up for 3999.00 is this how much they generally go for?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

hi m8, welcome to the site
The STI version is the one with the Higher BHP.
there are many different models of impreza available so may have decatted pipes, uprated air intakes etc etc all producing different BHP.

Be sure to take the Checklist with you when looking - may help in the decision making process

http://www.subaru-impreza.org/impreza-checklist.html

Good luck - please keep us informed

Whats the miles? spec ? etc we can all help with the price

Hiya Gareth,

Thanks for your reply, this is all the info i have on the car

54,000 miles, Metallic Silver. ABS, Adjustable steering column/wheel, Alloy wheels, Central locking, Electric mirrors, Electric windows, Electric sunroof, Foglights, Power assisted steering, Radio/Cassette.

The guy I spoke to said it has 240BHP and is totally standard, it has just been imported so its had no UK owners. Some people have told me not to go for the 280BHP version but the 280BHP (STI), So now im stuck which version to go for

there is MORE than enough to play with on the 240 (i think) Mileage is good - make sure you see original service records for those miles... The above price seems OK but would attempt to get a small reduction 300ish for some mods

You will also need to run this car on optimax (or super unleaded) as would be mapped to import fuel... running it on standard unleaded may cause problems with the engine (please jump in here)

What i will say... you could get your hands on a UK 220BHP (ish) Impreza Turbo for that sort of cash

Hope that helps

Hi I personally would not buy an import.
I bet you could buy a better UK car for that price, especially if you could go up to 5000.

Yep I had a bad vibe last week. Somone I know come asking about why there oil should look milky I said your engine is fu##ed. He paid 13000 for a bmw318 import 2ltr which should have been 14500(book price) at the time. He seemed to think I was a prick. He took his bmw 2 bmw and paid 104 for an Oil change

Next day he asked me (He had drawn a pic) what this simbol ment on his dash. I said "It looks like your coolent level is low" and you engine is f##ked.
Anyway the car is 2 years old and bmw aint interested because it is an import

His bm which he paid 13k aint worth 7 in my opinion. The coolent now comes out as fast as you put it it in

Put he is Nowthe prick and an a55h0le because he bought the car like that.

He didn't even check the DIPSTICK!

Gareth's checklist and 2002pete's Posts are a good place to start
