16 miles to the gallon??

just worked out that my classic is doing 16 to the gallon around town . recently had centre decat and forge DV fitted, i was with the idea that a easier breathing engine would mean less fuel consumtion, am i wrong to think this? i'm having a decat down pipe fitted in a few days, am i to believe that i will use even more fuel once this is fitted? what does anyone think about the above figure?

my brother fine, working too hard and getting bored with his outback already. can see him going back to a jag soon. boys n theirs eh!
yeah, 16 seemed low to me as when i purchsed the car i did an average of 22 but that was a 50/50 split with town and open road. i do alot of short mileage, not too good for the engine i know, wondering if this would add to the guzzle?

The short stop and start will add to the guzzle m8 yes.

Curtiz, think they officially do more to the gallon the the classic yes. Mixed reports on this though and its basically the way you drive the car. Anywhere between 18 to 28 MPG on the new age is possible. Track days / hard driving down to silly figures

Some say an ECU remap does this for you

Anyone with any experience of this? Does a remap incerase MPG in any way?

if the car is not setup properly you will get a poor mpg i've been told by many places my mpg will improve once mapped to suit the mods...

that said before i started messing with just a zorst filter and bov i got about 20mpg tickling it and roughly 8mpg as i normally drive (like an arse)

Our car is mapped and we adjust it to how we wish to drive it i.e to go faster which users more fuel or if we're doing a long journey it's adjusted to use less fuel. We've also started to use the Tesco 99 RON as we're getting on average 20-30 miles more per tank although a few people have mixed views about this fuel. You have to think that your petrol consumption will be even worse in the winter than normal.

Myself and Jon did some track time not so long back with regards to the 99 RON. It was an interesting day to say the least.
