Superchips

Has anybody heard what superchips are like, they are offering on there site for 500 increase from 209bhp to 241bhp and torque increase from 249 Nmto 324Nm on a standard wrx which i thimk my uk300 is as it really is just cosmetic differences between a normal wrx.

Do not bother
Get a proper remap for the same money.

Superchips is a cheap effort at giving extra power. AFAIK it removes safeguards from the ECU like rev limiter and Fuel cut and is not mapped to the individual car as say an ECUTEK would be.

Thanks Peter, WHo would be the best company to get a remap done for 500, i have seen loads of websites that want 1500+ for re-map which includes exhausts chips, induction kits for example. i just want to spend 500 ish now till around this time next year which i have seen an uprage package for a standard wrx to 330bhp.

A reply about superchip I gave to another member some time back.

SUPERCHIP...Noooooo.
It will work, but so will a 6p zener diode from Maplin. God knows what superchip charge but you can make the same type of kit for pennies at Maplin. Not that I would recommend this type of thing. With a downpipe (CatlessSystem) and superchip you will get boost spicks god knows how high no matter where you set the boost and nothing to cut the fuel. If you do go ahead with this please have a boost gauge and stare at it constanly.
They dangerously up the boost, and remove the fuel cut while not adjusting fuelling or ignition timing. Very clever things! So for an Import this just means more det.
You can get the same results with just a bleed valve or
More power can be gained from a well set up Dawes manual boost controller.
For saftey I would go with Bob Rawle. I did not know Bob done MY98's he may be talking about the Link. I had the Link on a MY2000 did not think it was the best of ECU's had problems with tickover and cold start. Worth checking to see what type of remap Bob is talking about. Had a Tec 3 done there only a week ago. Blasting around Swindon at over 135 mph and oil temps never got above 90 deg. Wonderfull job this oil cooler I have. Normal temps would usually be about 110-115. If you go for Bob's stuff I will come to Bob's to give a little suport.

If Powerstation have anything you fancy give me a shout I will come up with you. The Unichip also comes out at about 600. The Motec is about 2000 give or take a few quid.Shocked Had the Unichip on a SX200 and it went very well, almost kept up with the Scoob's. Shocked

You will have to come to one of SWPC meets or a Scoobyzone meet then we can give you some face to face advice. Very Happy

Thanks good reading. Its great having a site like this otherwise my car would have all sorts bolted on to it by now. I really like the idea of the 600 chip, for example bhp and torque differences between a standard uk300 and a chipped one. WHere can i find more info on it.

Regards Lee
