Tyres

Hi guys

couple of questions:-

1. I have a 99 classic turbo 2000 with new age 17" wheels. Does anyone know what tyre pressure i should be using? I have been using the pressures that were stamped on the drivers side door post, but a friend pointed out that because they are different wheels/tyres to standard that i could be putting the wrong pressure in the tyres.

This could explain why my tyres have been wearing un evenly. (4 wheel alignment has been done a few times and still the tyres appear to be wearing unevenly.)

2. I am currently looking for 2 new tyres on the front of my car, Are the new EU ratings accurate? ive been looking at some of the cheaper brand tyres and they appear to have the same speed rating but better on the noise/wet grip/fuel efficency.

Thanks for your help

Dan

Re: Tyres

Thanks for that, it appears i am running at the wrong pressure, was running at 30 at the front and 28 at the back. looks like i should be running at 33 at the front and 32 at the back!, I wonder if this is why they are wearing unevenly? hopefully it is!

Thanks for the quick response.

1: Was the steering wheel straight when the 4-wheel alignment was done ?

2: If the camber is wrong on the front axle then this will affect the tyre wear.

Re: Tyres

Hi I forgot to mention it was 4 wheel alignment and geometry. So hopefully camber should also be fine

Was a while ago now, so might get them to check again when I've got the new tyres.

Re: Tyres

some places set them up to what Subaru say and they handle crap and seem to wear tyres in a weird way,
Something like the old prodrive settings can be a better option,
it also depends on where on the tyre is wearing, this would tell us where to point you,
If the centre of the tyre never wears then ur right with under inflation, centre wearing only is over inflation.
