AC Compressor Clutch engaging randomly when heater is on.

Now that my rebuilt long block is in my 2003 Impreza Outback, I need to address what is causing my AC compressor clutch to frequently engage, and then disengage when the heater is on. The AC is working, but there is a lot of dust in the clutch area as evidence that someone is not working correctly. I do have a rebuilt compressor sitting in the garage, too. Right now, I can drive with the heater off, but I need to get it taken care of. Even if someone can give me a list of suspected parts that might be causing this annoying behavior, I can spend less buying the parts and replacing them, than taking it in to a shop. Amazing how much better the 2.5 is with Six Star Head Gaskets.
