Question New wrx owner with a few questions

Hi all, got my 02reg wrx this morning and I'm in loving it what a beast it is compared to anything else iv driven, just a few questions if someone has a minute, it's un modded except magnex exhaust should I be putting premium fuel init or is normal ok there seems to be a few different opinions on the dedicated thread.? It also has has ebc front discs and pads only fitted a few months ago but they make a hissing/grinding under hard breaking is this normal? I have more questions (I'm a proper scoob noob) but il leave em for now as post is getting long, p.s thinking about starting a petition at asda to have dedicated scooby spaces as I don't know what il do if It gets trolley bashed or some idiot opens his door into my new motor.

tesco 99 momentum or V power fuel wise,
are the discs grooved or drilled/dimpled ? if so then that's your noise.

Re: New wrx owner with a few questions

Correct dimpled and groves, what will happen if I use standard fuel as I put 20 in today?

Re: New wrx owner with a few questions

Drive off boost until you run the 95 Ron fuel through and then put 99 in. I'd run 2 tanks of 99 through to let the ecu readjust before giving it any hard runs. 95 can cause detonation which can be an engine killer.

Oh crap can't I buy some sort of additive from haldfords or somewhere, or how hard I'd it to drain?

That's a load of rubbish fella. It's a turbo car. It's supposed to run on 98. Super is 97 so one Ron off target. Ordinary unleaded is 95 Ron and 3 less than target. 99 is one over target. You obviously know nothing about pre-ignition or detonation.... It where the fuel ignites under compression before the piston reaches top dead centre. Very sore on engine bearings.....

I'd do my homework before giving out information like you have

Re: New wrx owner with a few questions

You evidently don't have a clue. When my car was sold in 2003 super was 98. Now it is 97. Higher Ron prevents detonation and knock - FACT. 99 will further prevebt this.....It's a turbo car not a Ferrari..... Turbo cars run better on super and safer. Don't know why you have to insult me over it.... Go and do your homework before anymore smart replies
