need a little bit of advice please
Hi all. Any help will be welcome. Basically im looking at fitting a k n N cone filter to my 95 import. I will at some point be looking to go mafless (via my mines ecu). I have a td05 and a vf23 turbo, i will look to use the latter. Basically im looking to lose the standard air intake pipework and replace with blue silcone, i have looked on ebay initially at the air intake pipes with the various plugs on it for the different air feeds which currently attatch to a curved section near to the turbo. My question is i can only find the silcone pipes for 96 onwards cars, i presume the same part will fit my 95? Also i have a silcone hose running from the bottom of my 3 port solenoid to the mid section (large box in middle of air intake), i have seen silcone hose sections which replace this mid section but its just a straight piece of silcone pipe with no external fix point for the hose from the solenoid? Will i need to buy a different solenoid if i were to replace this mid box section? Id take a picture but im not with my car so sorry for long message. Thankyou for your help guys :-) regards Gareth

Re: need a little bit of advice please
my first question is WHY? K&N cones arent needed for the level of power your even thinking about, why do we dish out the advice to remove K&N`s to newbies and replace with the air box ?, the only genuine reason I know of for swapping a airbox out is for a FMIC as there isnt the room,
good luck with the mods.

Re: need a little bit of advice please
Hi, that is the main reason as i have a fmic im looking to fit fairly soon and i know space on that side of the bay is limited on the early classics. And as fitting the fmic is a crappy job i wanted to get it done as quickly as possible with no hold ups, so hence asking in advance. If your able to help that would be great. Regards Gareth

Re: need a little bit of advice please
Thanks for you reply "the pilot". Do you know the air hose that comes from the bottom of the 3 port solenoid that goes into the standard intake system (goes into the large box after the maf) what i do with this when i remove the standard intake parts? I will be replacing this section with a section of silcone hose directly to the cone filter. I presume this is how its normally done when running a mafless setup? Appreciate your help

Re: need a little bit of advice please
as far as Im aware "Mines" is a piggyback chip to a standard ecu, then you cut R1 or J1, the map on it is normally higher boost and fueling maps altered but its for 101 ron fuel(jap fuel) so unless your on good fuel and octane boost it may not be that safe long term in the UK, I dont know of a chip that allows mafless, anti lag etc as you have mentioned, apexi and simtek are the only ecu`s that I know of that do what you have said, and Im not 100% sure even Apexi does mafless.

Re: need a little bit of advice please
Sounds like a standard chipped ecu then? Was advertised that anti lag and mafless options were capable, the anti lag needed to be programmed in. Prob ive got now is have had it a while so not sure can take it back. Not great start to my day. But you cant put a price on ur guidance

Re: need a little bit of advice please
sorry but it might save you some heart ache down the line,
I have a 4 plug classic(1995) Mines chipped ecu from my classic days, drop it in now and see how it drives, I take it you have a boost gauge? in ur first post you mention you have a TD05 and VF23, the 1995 wrx ? as you put import came with a TD05 as standard, so if you have bought another you can sell it and the mines and put it towards the right ecu maybe ?

Re: need a little bit of advice please
Hi yeah bought a donor car. Got standard z4 and mines. Got td05 on car current and vf23 which ive taken off other and cleaned up. Got 440's off other and fmic off other, 255 pump which ive now fitted to current car. Reason looking to go mafless was fitting fmic, hence freeing up a bit of room. Ive got ap coilovers but also have abs unit still and again thinking of taking this out for space. Cant believe that with mines ecu as the owner of the car who is quite respected locally for knowing his stuff told me he used it mafless but just didnt have the anti lag option programmed in
