Question New to subaru's and need some advice

Hi

I love subaru's but i've been told they are really unreliable and everytime I say to mates about me getting one they all say something along the lines of '' god no! Don't get a Subaru!!'' which tbh just makes me want one even more as I love being different.
My question is are Subaru impreza's really that bad?

Re: New to subaru's and need some advice

Hello there, welcome!
Hmmm. I myself am new to scooby's.
I bought a 98 type r about 7 weeks ago and I already have problems.
Needs a power steering pump and the turbo isn't boosting to 1 bar as it should. Only .6.
I would recommend you shop about first and don't just buy the first one you see, but if you know about them and check them out before hand, then go for it.
It's swings an round abouts with all cars really.
You could buy one and next week have to spend money on it, or drive for six months wihtout issues.
As long as you maintain it (regular oil/ filter changes, spark plugs etc) you should be fine.
Just buy a decent one. For that you'll need probably 5 grand.
Take someone who knows about them with you to check it out!
Nick!

most of the ones that fail are modified by idiots or chavs,
as mentioned there are plenty out there that have been looked after so be patient and look at loads.

Re: New to subaru's and need some advice

Thank you all for your replys, they have really helped. I've got to sell my car first before I buy a Subaru so I've got sometime to look around, I'm going to try and get one that is standard so I can modify it the way I would like it. I'll also take someone with me to check it over before I buy one.
