Question Blobeye to Hawkeye

Hi people

Recently upgraded my Impreza blobeye to hawkeye and i have to say im slightly disappointed.

I had a scorpion catback exhaust system installed on my blobeye impreza making the vehicle sound like it should.

I now have bought a hawkeye impreza with a standard exhaust system. To me the car feels toned down, very quiet, and doesn't pull or feel as quick as the blobeye.

Would installing a stainless steel exhaust system make the hawkeye sound and pull like the blobeye or am i going to be stuck with the toned down version?

Thanks

Re: Blobeye to Hawkeye

There are so many factors that will effect the performance of the car, age, fuel, import, oil, plugs, filters, tyre pressures ....etc
fitting an exhaust and filter will make it breath better and improve performance and response. Finish off with a remap and you should be happy

Re: Blobeye to Hawkeye

Just another point, i was considering getting ppp installed. Would you go down that route, or take the car to scooby clinic/scooby world and get a performance pack fitted for lesser cost? You do hear horror stories with regards to remaps, which is why i thought taking it to prodrive would be a lot safer.

cheers

Forget about the ppp, speak to Duncan at Racedynamix, he is the scooby god! 07540185754 He will help you get what you want out of the engine for sure.

Hmm I have heard of him. Are there any risks involved? Maybe I'm being over careful but you do hear the horror stories...
If I were to go for a remap would I need to uprate fuel pump, spark plugs, induction kit etc? Thanks

If you tell dunc what you want from your car he'll tell you what you need to do. depends how far you want to take it fella.

Will the fact my car is a Maltese import affect the performance?

Re: Blobeye to Hawkeye

not sure what grade fuel that'll be mapped to run on but it won't affect the above recommendations

Re: Blobeye to Hawkeye

To give you an idea of whats possible, i went for a 100 cell sports downpipe, de catted the rest of the exhaust, k&n panel filter, walbro 255lph pump and a remap by duncan. I am now running at a sensible 330 bhp in my sti, no reason why the same mods on your wrx can't achieve prodrive power 260-270 bhp.

Re: Blobeye to Hawkeye

Will a remap actually improve fuel economy? As you may well know the hawkeyes are thirsty buggers!

Re: Blobeye to Hawkeye

They're all thirsty mate, mine goes down to 9 mpg when the happy pedal is flat to the floor and hard driving. But a remap can help improve mpg's and release power.
