No revving

Hi im having a problem with my 94 import. She has been off the road for some time and today fitted new timing belt kit, waterpump etc. When turning her over she started first time and idle a little high 1200rpm. When warm i pushed the accelorator peddle down and the peddle sunk to the floor and she coughed and spluttered but didn rev, just like there was a hole in the footwell and the peddle just kept dropping with nothing to show for it? This has puzled me, could it be spark plugs which i changed about 12 months ago (havent been used at all) could it be idle control valve, o2 sensor? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Regards Gareth

How long was it off the road? reason I ask is that somtimes the butterfly flap in trottle body sticks might be causing you problems

Re: No revving

Hi car has been off the road for 16 months, however was turning over and starting perfectly. Idling a little high but made adjustments to control valve last year and idled perfect. I'm doing a complete overhaul, and in the process of fitting fmic, I think what might of happened is I haven't fastened the aftermarket air filter back on correctly? If there's too much air getting in could this have this effect? If not where abouts is the bit ur talking about on the throttle body? Cheers Gareth

No harm in tightening the air filter but your in the process of fitting the fmic to dont forget remap after it and drive it handy till map, if you take the intercooler off the top pipe going to engine off the intercooler on the engine is the trotttle body they a flap inside it worked off the accelerator cable opens and closes trottle spray carb cleaner all round it will free it up as they can stick in some cars if off the road for so long no harm spraying a small bit of wd40 aswell to lubricate it just a small bit wont do any harm has happened to some cars and can cause all sorts of problems
