Grey imports????
Just joined the site.... (Not a Subaru owner yet). One conflicting issue i've come across already is that some say don't touch grey imports and other say they are OK. What do you guys suggest and what exactly qualifies as a grey import.
Cheers. |

Welcome to the site
UK = Warranty Import (from Japan) mapped to run on 100ron fuel and NO Warrenty... You can get them remapped cost around £350 or you can use super unleaded and octane booster also insurence is more expensive. Imports from Japan usually have more BHP...... |

I bought my Type25 - based on a JDM, from Litchfield Imports. Very friendly, they do standard imports too - modified engine map and speedo + all the mods to comply with UK regs included in the price, and the cars come with 12 month warranty.
The benefits of JDM over UK model are that the JDM uses a twin scroll trubo - basically spools up a LOT faster so much less lag. Oh, 300bhp out of the box too! The down side can be insurance, but there are still many companies that will cover you (I'm with A-Plan - top chaps). And the fact that a lot of main dealers will not touch the car - can be a pain when trying to get parts or have it sefviced if you don't have an independent locally. Whichever way you go, I'm sure you'll love the scooby ![]() |
