apexi fc ecu

Hi, does anyone know on the 1997, impreza if the apexi fc ecu is a good option for me as i wnt to upgrade fmic, fuel pump, tubular manifolds pulleys, exhaust etc, and wanted to know is this the best option for me to and use and is this mppable on my car?

If so where to bt one from, and how much are they?

If not please could someone tell me which standlone ecu is worth going for, nothing too expensive.

Kind Regards

Re: apexi fc ecu

Afaik, this is fine for your car. New seem to go for 750, 2nd hand ones I've seen seem to be 4-500. You also need to factor in the cost of the map. so you'll be looking at at least 7-800 i you go that route.

Why not consider an ESL daughter board, 525 mapped by JGM.

A daughter board basically piggy backs the oem ECU and allows it to be mapped and it should work fine for what you have in mind. Why not give Simon @ JGM a call and have a chat. Think he is based in Maidstone so not too far from you, or you could try PM'ing Dynamix on here, he is a mapper though not sure if he does ESL as can't get on his site at the moment.

Don't know either of those companies I'm afraid, though I'm sure someone will. The mapper can supply and/or fit the daughterboard for you and may work out cheaper that way. If you go with the Apexi unit I am sure they will be able to fit that also.

Re: apexi fc ecu

Not wanting to bad mouth any companies, but i have previously read some reviews on japspeed products (exhausts, manifolds, fimc's) and from what i hear is the quality is not all that good, so personally i'd stay away from them, but dunno what their electrical stuff like ecu's etc is like

Re: apexi fc ecu

apexi's are starting to show there age, perfectly capable for the mods you are talkign about but personaly i'd go down the simtek route, the removal of the maf is a big improvment in itself.

p.s. 97/98 arn't mapable, even with a daughterboard

currently anyway
