Twin Scroll turbo ?

I've seen already a few people mentioning a twin scroll turbo as mod for their scoob.

Did anybody on this site fit one ?

What's all the fuss about in fact ?

Any other info welcome (better than PPP ? Pricing ? etc).

Look fwd to your inputs.

I've driven a Scoob with a twin scroll turbo, not too sure about the finer details etc but all I can say is... that car was pushing 400+ BHP with a few other mods :P :x

Kind a sounds like three things:
1. It's gonna cancel my warranty
2. better applied with other mods to ensure the engine life remains OK
3. expensive (?)

Could you tell me a bit more on how this turbo is different of the standard thing on the STi ?

Would such a turbo also fit the 2003 STi engine ?

Thanks !

the VF34 has a advanced bearing design, the bearing design allows for much quicker turbo spool-up ok for WRX 02+.

Any idea if I could get a bang-bang system for my scoob too ?

That's in fact the ultimate mod I would want on a car ! :mbounce:

Considering it's mainly a matter of keeping the inlet slightly open and retarding the ignition, it should be possible by just playing with the electronics. You need a very strong exhaust though...

I've always wondered, how can an insurance know you remapped your car e.g. After a smash, most of it will not be in working order anymore anyway.

Insurance companys would never know the difference if you had a tek3 fitted, its purely software based and there's no way of knowing unless you put it on the rollers to reveal its power!

I'm happy not paying the extra cash

I do agree. They all talk about "telling the insurance" or "illegal".

I got rally bulbs for my main beam. Illegal, indeed. Although, I do not use my main beam when there is oncoming traffic, :slap: so I don't see how it could harm anyone or cause accidents. Forgetting (or refusing) to dip your lights, even when running normal bulbs, is much more dangerous.

And in case of an accident, the only accident this could cause is going to be one where the front of my car will be hit. In which case I don't think there will be a lot of evidence left about running too powerful bulbs...

THAT you should !

In case of theft and they find it back, they will claim your car was more attractive !

In case of an accident, they will say you are a more sporty driver and bigger risk than you told them...

:lol2:
