Smile MY00 Classic - 330bhp Many Mods - (SOLD)

It started out as a silver Year 2000 saloon (last of the classic shape) Euro import, with Air Conditioning.

Engine:
  • Ej20 with a IHI roller bearing VF23 turbo (as used in the 22B)
  • Running 1.3 bar boost through a large custom front mounted intercooler and associated plumbing
  • New Turbo installed at 71,991 miles
  • To do this it has a LINK ECU (software and cable/interface box included to allow data logging and re-mapping)
  • Mapped by Bob Rawle (the guy who maps Nikki Grists 22Bs)
  • MAP sensor and wastegate solenoid are uprated
  • 550cc injectors
  • Fuel pump in boot acts as a lift pump to a swirl pot (PowerStation Kit), then high power pump to injectors
  • New Subaru Fuel pressure regulator Dec 2005
  • Panel filter (spare included)
  • Includes a full ScoobySport straight through stainless exhaust system (Currently has a brand new standard back box to keep noise down on motorway) - Will include the stainless rear box
  • Full standard CAT exhaust included
  • Oil Cooler – Think Automotive 19 Row 230mm
  • New Lamda Sensor (spares included) Dec 2005
  • New Cam Belt at 60,667 miles
Its a realistic 330-340bhp, every day any day, its turn key, wouldn't know its not standard.

Chassis/Drivetrain:
  • Polybushed front end
  • Castor and camber setup for fast road
  • Bumpsteer modification - Powerstation
  • leda B fully adjustable coil overs - corner weighted to 80kgs in driver seat (will include the standard suspension)
  • Whiteline front and rear ARBS - rear is adjustable and recently cleaned up and repainted
  • Gearbox replaced July 2004 (API Automotive Imports)
  • New exedy organic clutch (API Automotive Imports) @ 74,890 miles
  • New Front Wheel Bearings @72,000 miles
  • Very nice 17" P1 wheels - professionally refurbished 2006
Brakes:
  • 16” 4 pot AP racing, separate bells - fit behind 16" wheels
  • 2126-RS14 Pagid Pads
  • Castrol SRF Brake Fluid
  • New rear discs/pads/shoes this week
Inside:
  • STI boost gauge
  • Shift Lights (WebCon Alpha T050)
  • LINK Knock sensor and live Lamda readout
  • SPA digital gauges x 3 - Exhaust Gas Temp , Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, Water Temp, Under bonnet Temp all working. Option to install Boost Sensor (included)
  • Spa gauges mounted in Scoobymania pod.
  • Cat 1 Alarm, two fobs, two keys
  • Air Conditioning
  • CD/MP3/Radio head unit with 4 channel Kenwood amp and wiring in place

Outside:
Intended to look standard, certainly you can tell its lowered and the 17” wheels maybe give it away
  • Clear Side Lenses
  • Tow Bar
  • Standard fog lights removed and paneled over - lights included so could be put back on
  • Headlights converted to HID system, very bright. Easy to convert back, bulbs included

Its been serviced fanatically by its first owner and then by myself, Roger Clarke Motorsport, and Subaru Specialists, oil changes every 3000-5000 miles Mobil1 15w50 or Motul Comp 300v.
  • One previous owner
  • 77,294 miles
  • MOT Dec 20th 2007
  • TAX 1st Jan 2008

If I was keeping it jobs that I would do:
Removable tow bar is no longer removable, never bothered me, but guess would be nice to be able to remove it.
Front plastic very lower lip of bumper, paint is coming off
Car "thinks" a door is open - red light on dash, guess its a door switch/some wiring
Insurance is due again (£492 for me and wife all mods declared, limited to 10k miles), its a 4th car and just is not getting used, I have had a lot of fun but time to move on, its a fantastic car.

Its on ebay but £8,000 or offers to end the ebay early.

had a fair bit more interest than I expected, but at the end of the day you have to match the right person to the car when selling modified cars - just happened that the right guy for the car was looking to buy a car - chatted for a couple of hours, once he drove it and saw the history, he decided it was the car for him. Pretty much as I did back in 2003.

Tempted by a new WRX from car supermarket places or Alfa 159's

Let us know what you go for.... Had no experience of an Alfa but they do seem to have a passionate following.... A drivers car (so I am told/heard) may be a bit tame after the scooby though...
