Where do all the newbies go???

Guess this post is more of a continuation of an old post `This forum' but where do all the newbies go?
The site seems to be getting even quieter yet more and more people sign up every day.
It truly is a shame because the people on here are great, welcoming and friendly which is more than can be said of some other sites.I guess i am just as guilty I have not started many new threads but i try to join in when it is appropriate. Mostly i do not have the tech knowledge to reply with authourity to tech questions so tend to say nothing

Just wondered what others thoughts where.

Cheers Dan

Re: Where do all the newbies go???

It's a small community, but one that welcomes all. A lot of the newbies are probably just spam posts. I hang out here to chill , and then go on Scoobynet to shake my walking stick at people jeering and causing havoc (all for the right reasons though)

Re: Where do all the newbies go???

As Andrew says really.

Another thing is, to gain access to the technical forums you have to sign up. Once those people have said hello and got their info they tend to drift off. All sites are the same, it's just on the larger sites it isn't so obvious. Must admit to doing the same mysaelf as I'm a member of 4 or 5 scooby forums, but only really post here as the others are just not very friendly or inviting places to be. SNet is the biggest I guess, but it is also the most argumentative and unfriendly of the lot, hence i never post. To be fair though, there is a good number of very knowledgeable people on there, and answers to difficult questions are inevitably easier to come by on Snet, but I have no intention of becoming part of their 'community'. people on this site are far more patient and friendly.

That is fine and as it should be. We all started off somewhere and as your knowledge grows you'll contribute more. I'm similar as I know very little about cars, and next to nothing about electrics. plenty of people on here that do know there stuff and I leave i to them to answer the questions that I can't.

I'm a drifter........

This is the only subaru forum i use, i did sign up to scoobynet but as others have already menationed it appears to be full of big headed twats!

I find this forum friendly and helpful but in my case haven't been around much lately as subaru became a swearword in my house after the year i've had with mine...........

I'm the same as you, dont tend to say too much, it is all too easy to make yourself look like a plank But i do have a look around most days in an effort to soak up some of the knowledge on here.
I reckon it is the most friendly of the subaru sites i've come across.

Keep up the good work chaps

Re: Where do all the newbies go???

pretty much as said.

org gets alot of hit s a month, last i heard 2 mill a month some of the tech stuff you have to join to see, so folks join, get the info and leave.

kinda sucks they just want free info but it comes with the teritory.

also some bots are slipping through the out of date security.

Re: Where do all the newbies go???

Have to agree with most of the above, I only post on .org but skip around other sites looking for answers.
I'll post my comments where I can and have always had great advice, even to the most basic questions.
